There’s a real trend toward cooking in foil packs these days and campers know why this is such a great idea. You can make your dinner in the morning and then enjoy the rest of the day or you can even make the foil packs up at home and bring them with you. It’s also nice to have so little cleanup. Each individual meal is wrapped in its own foil pack which can be thrown away when you’re done eating. No more washing dishes for an hour after dinner.
There is a wide variety of things that can be cooked in foil packs. You might like to try breakfast combinations such as hash browns, bacon or sausage, onion, green pepper, shredded cheese, and chopped mushrooms. Lunch can be ham & cheese sandwiches, and dinner can be anything from shrimp boil to lasagna.
Be sure to use heavy weight foil as the standard version has the potential to tear. You may want to lightly spray the foil before adding your food to be sure that nothing sticks. Fold everything up and secure the ends. You’re now ready to drop the packet into the campfire or on the grill. They generally cook up in about 10 minutes but can be moved to the outside edges of the heat and kept warm for some time after that.
